In a nutshell, this is a 10 day adventure of trekking and entertainment, based out of our Gachurt ger camp, aimed primarily at the UK biking fraternity, for riders of at least intermediate off-road riding ability and experience, using powerful but agile mid-sized ADV bikes (CF 450 MTs and RE 450 Mrk II Himalayans)
Meet in THM Nisekh.Orientation. Bikes. Ride out to Altanbulag Base Camp. Expore the area. Tent camping for the night. Barbeque.
Follow the tracks cross country around Bogd Khan Mountain to Zuunmod. Get a coffee and visit the Mansushir Monastery and museum. Get back on the bikes and continue cross coutry to Tonyukuk Stel, ancient turkic period standing stones and museum. Finish in Gachurt for the night with a welcoming feast and a concert of traditional music.
Mongolian pursuits day. Horse riding and archery in Gachurt. Lunch. Forest exploration with the bikes.
The main trek begins: 150km ride to the Gazarin Baga Chuluu rock formation. Tent camping for the night. Listen to enthralling stories of Mongolian history and legend recounted by your guide around the camp fire.
Arrive in Mangalgobi. Hotel stay.
Discover the sights around Mandalgobi. Visit to Ikh Gazarin Chuluu rock formations and ancient fortress. Camp out for the night and enjoy part 2 of the Mongolian history stroies recounted by your guide.
Head north across the Mongolian high Plateau. Very remote. Make it back to Gachurt for the night.
A lazy morning with a late breakfast in Gachurt. Then take the mountain track from Gachurt into the Terelj N.P. Discover Terelj village and it's luxury hotel for lunch. Cross the river and follow the tracks into the mountains - slowly and carefully, conditions permitting. This is not easy going. Tent camping for the night. Listen to the wolves howling.
Return from the mountains to Terelj village then take the delightful mountain road past Turtle Rock and the well tourist attractions. Camel rides available. Continue out to the Ghengis Khan Statue Complex. Back to Gachurt for dinner and relaxation with a return of our traditional music.
Breakfast in Gachurt. Leave early for Nisekh and enjoy one last trek across the open steppe, revisiting your old haunts of Tonyukuk Stel and Zuunmod, from where the tarmac takes you back to Nisekh. Enjoy a coffee and plan your return.
