Travel adventure, Arts Promotion and entertaiment. Trekking by motorcycle & jeep; concerts, art exhbitions & fashion shows - interesting events organised and promoted.
We are a family. We are not just selling motorbike rides, we are selling an approach to life: Travel adventure for discovery, experience and fun, physical and mental challenges leading to strength, confidence and self reliance. We want you to join our family.
We are passionate about bikes. We started with Urals and Dneipers, which we still have, and by design we offer a range of bikes in our fleet of modern and classic Dual Sport and ADV bikes.
We love Uaz jeeps and run several for treks durng the summer. While we also offer the unique experience of trekking in the cold, still air of the beautiful and snow coated Monglian winter.
Mongolian trekking is all about distance and remoteness. You need to take it easy, don't go too fast. All of our trekking actvities include an element of training for confidence and improvement. We will support you fully, but we also want to set you free.
Partly to promote the company, partly just for fun, and definitely so that we can meet with you: we organise some modest promotional events in other countries, usually out of season. We love everyone, but we have special historical ties with India, Korea, France, Greece, Hong Kong, the UK, Canada, the USA, Australia, and of course our neighbours Russia and China.
Anthony Sansom: A life time adventurer, author, videographer and musician.
Urtaa Jambaa: A Mongolian national steeped in the culture and history of her country. Urtaa researches and prepares our historical and cultural events and directs the Mongolian side of the company.
Anthony arrived in Mongolia in the year 2000 from his home in South Korea. Loved the country, wrote the book, married Urtaa, and they founded Thirsty Horse Mongolia LLC in 2008 to develop travel adventure and promote Mongolian cultural events. The country in 2000 was nothing like it is today. E.g. no cars other than a few Uaz jeeps, and the motorbikes were Izh Planettas and the flat twins with sidecars.
That's were we started. Dave Ramsden and Paul Codling flew out for 3 months to renovate several of them, but the project proved very chanllenging and took the company in a far more technical direction than had been intended. Our luck didn't change much with a fleet of chinese bikes bought in 2009 that didn't prove reliable. But Jesse Thomas and William Knight joined us for the summer to set up the enterprise. Then not much happenned, although we did support a local rock band "Bulsara" to national fame and success. We put a lot of money into buying equipment and setting up the workshops; and the Red Devil Planetta from "The Long Way Round" took up residence in our garage. But then came covid.
Things started to pick up again in 2025. We hit a stable financial period, Jesse and William came back with great plans and youthful enthousiasm, and we took the Red Devil for a spin too. So now we're back, with a full agenda of activities planned for 2026. Take a look around this website, and we hope that you will like what you see - then join us, somewhere along the line.
